8th June 2005
No sailing last Sunday, the swell was too big, but we did have ”Paella” cooked to perfection by Isabel and José. It was a great day with enough “Paella” for members and guests, I’m sure we’ll do it again.
The previous Sunday, my day was made when Phillip arrived with his “Wayfarer”. In perfect weather it was soon on the water, it had a variety of crews and delighted everyone, I took out young John from El Pinar. The 16ft Wayfarer is a cruiser – racer, I would guess every sailing school in the UK has one. Frank Dye sailed his to Norway and with his wife Margaret has sailed in many countries of the world, look for the books by Frank or Margaret. Phillip’s Wayfarer is up for sale, it’s an ideal family boat.
NOW! I’m told we may soon have a permanent site – but I’ll say no more – you know what they say about chickens! When it happens perhaps we should have a Festival of the Sea – that’s an idea for the future.
Thinking along those lines, if you are in the UK this month, you could visit the biggest maritime event ever to take place in British Waters. Ships from over three dozen navies will anchor in the Solent for the Trafalgar 200 International Fleet review on Tuesday 28th June 05.
I’ll not mention the Battle of Trafalgar – 21st October 1805, as I’m told it’s not politically correct.
Remember the Mediterranean Games starts on 24th June, it’s a great celebration for the province of Almeria and we’ll be celebrating, if after the games we get some youngsters and "oppies" on the lake at Cuevas.
Come and talk to us, Sundays on the Playa Del Cantal,
opposite Mr UK.
