History of the Club
Founded by John Talliss in 2002. The name of the sailing
club is dedicated to my first mate Ethel Irene, my late wife.
With a background of dinghy racing from the 1950's, it was my desire to bring
the sport of sailing to the youth of Mojacar. With this in mind I set about
starting a sailing club by building 2 Oppies in 2001 and then went onto aquire
a further 8 more dinghies over the next year. Through the generosity of the
Town Hall the inaugural meeting of the club was held on the 1st June 2002, with
a boat show held in the Village of Mojacar. The day was very successful and
attended by many people. From these early beginnings the club has now become
firmly established with a very friendly cosmopolitan membership and brings great
pleasure to many sailing enthusiasts.
We would like to extend a very warm welcome to everybody, why not pay us a visit.
